Another problem is affordability, people ask for something that is both effective and economical. Bearing their customer’s need in mind Symantec Corporation introduced Norton Antivirus version 18.0 in 2011 which is a perfect solution for problems related to viruses and internet security. So, if you are looking for an “All in 1” kind of package then Norton antivirus 18.0 is your thing.

Norton Antivirus

Developed and administered by Symantec Corporation, Norton Antivirus provides protection against all sorts of cyber threats. This marvelous software not only detects malware but also removes it at the same time. Version 2011 and 2012 originally support Windows 7 and Mac OS X whereas earlier versions are being developed to support Windows 7.

Modifications include a new user interface and improved scanning of internet sites for threats. Another new application that was brought in scans the user’s Facebook feed for any malware links. This improved version provides user with an easy to understand interface on files stored on the user’s computer. A small window appears on the home screen that shows the current status of PC. The moment it detects any virus, the window turns red and it notifies the user that system is AT RISK. At the same time it suggests solutions to eradicate the virus and restore the system to its SECURE state. These features make it very easy to understand and deal with problems.

On August 31, 2010 the final version of Norton Internet Security 2011 was released. New features in version 2011 also include Norton Rescue Tools. These tools include Norton Bootable Recovery tool and Norton Power Eraser.

Another significant feature is Norton Live Update. It is an application designed by Symantec Corporation that downloads improved features from internet and updates the current version. In the earlier versions this feature was not an integrated part of the software rather it was installed separately with all Symantec products. From version 2009 and onwards it has been made a part of the software. To use Norton Live Update a valid subscription is required. All it needs for functioning is an internet connection. As soon as a connection is established this application becomes active. It works in Interactive mode and Express Mode. In Interactive Mode it is wholly up to the user to select the updates to be downloaded and applied whereas, in Express Mode it runs silently in the background and downloads all applicable updates. Once the process is completed Live Update will start the operation of installing them. With this feature installed the user need not worry about updating the software.
