Use NetDrive to Map an FTP Server as a Local Drive

Many of you might have knowledge or experience about mapping a network folder in Microsoft windows but people are unfamiliar with the way to map an FTP server as a local drive. This is generally because no such option or method is available to map an FTP server as a local system drive. However, a third party tool can help you in this regard.

NetDrive: - NetDrive is free application that enables you to easily map your FTP server as a local drive in your Microsoft Windows explorer. This way you can enjoy various advantages of mapping an FTP server as a system drive. Files upload and download from both locations made easy; open files directly from the server without even downloading them and incredibly you can also enjoy editing and save those files that you accessed from the server.

  • NetDrive is free application which can be downloaded from internet. Download and install the application and start NetDrive using a newly created desktop icon or start menu shortcut.

  • Click on add new site and provide the necessary login information to connect to your FTP server.

  • Click on the save button followed by the connect button. NetDrive will try to communicate with your online FTP server and if everything went right, it will show your FTP server as a local drive in your Windows explorer.

You can now upload, download, view or edit your files easily. Please note that folders may take time to respond, and this is perfectly natural. It mainly depends upon your Internet connection speed.
