Android exceeds Apple OS for iPhone in US market

A well renowned US research organization NPD group, publishes latest results of use of smart phone OS in US market. The results amazingly revealed that Google’ Android OS goes past leading iPhone OS for the 2nd place in user preference for smart phone in US market. The analysis was based on the survey data for the first quarter of the year.

According to the research company, devices with android OS are cumulating to be 28% of the total units sold in the US market in first quarter of the year. Google’s Android comprehensively surpassed Apple’s iPhone OS for the 2nd place which managed 21% of the total market share.

Blackberry leading from the front with 36% market share with its in-house built RIM’s (Research in Motion) OS.

The picture depicts the rapid growth of Google’s Android loaded smart phones over the period of last few quarters, amongst users in US market as compared to other OS.

These figures are based on surveys conducted by NPD firm from consumers and on the total number of particular devices sold to individual users other than those sold to business firms.

Google’s Android OS is a multi platform OS which is running on many various models of smart phones made by different vendors, like HTC, Motorola and Samsung, where as Apple’s OS is only limited to its own iPhone.
